Help for Slow or Failing Chapters
Created By: Betts, Janet On Tue, Dec 29, 2009 05:26 PM

There are periods when a chapter might struggle, and experience low participation or low membership, while other chapters flourish. At the 2009 VLW, attendees split into small groups and answered the question:

How do we jumpstart a slow or failing chapter?

All attendees had an opportunity to view the suggestions made by each group and were asked to select their "Top 10" solutions. Suggestions included ideas like:

  • Use ANNA Connected for connectedness
  • Acknowledge each participant after meeting with letter or email
  • Develop PowerPoint with "Benefits of ANNA membership"
  • Survey members and non-members
  • Reach out to new nurses in nephrology
  • Give away one membership at a chapter meeting

 > Download the complete list of solutions from the 2009 VLW Roundtables (Acrobat) (This document is posted in the leadership development resources Resource Library and can also be accessed from the Resources section.)

What additional ideas can you add to this list? Have you tried some of these techniques? What worked best for you or didn't work? Add your comments below.
