Bio

Leadership, Staff Development, and Team-Building have been a part of my practice for 20+ years. I understand Dialysis and Nephrology and possess skill-sets in Renal Replacement Therapies including Hemodialysis, Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD/CCPD), Plasmapheresis (TPE), all aspects of CRRT, and have a fundamental understanding of the Renal Transplant process. I am an Advanced Practice Nurse-Adult Clinical Nurse Specialist ANCC Board Certified (ACNS-BC), Certified Nephrology Nurse, and Certified Peritoneal Dialysis Nurse. I am competent and/or certified in Basic Arrhythmia, BLS, CPR, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and belong to many professional organizations. I have always had a great interest in client focused care. Over time, as I progressed through my career pathway, I began to realize that nursing; basic nursing, has become ancillary to the clinical line. The focus has become more rote; task oriented, documentation driven, and business modeled. It is my goal to bring that focus back to the client. To teach nurses, once again, to be nurses has become my passion. Behind the premise of educating nurses, on any variety of topics, I believe incorporating the client focus into the business of nursing is paramount to successful learning. Client focus is key to ICH-CAHPS & HCAHPS success. After achieving RN licensure in 1993 subsequent to 15 years as a practicing LVN in Med-Surg, I utilized skills as a Chronic Hemodialysis Nurse (1993-95) to move to an Acute Dialysis team in 1995; I found my niche in Nephrology. I specialized in education and training of new Acute Dialysis Nursing staff for seven years. I have managed Acute Dialysis and Chronic Dialysis Units in both adult and pediatric modalities including incorporating administrative duties along with ongoing education and skills training for team members for 15 plus years. I possess conversational Spanish-speaking skill suitable for the Healthcare Provider. Future plans include the terminal degree (PhD) in Nursing Education and Research.‚Äč
