I've been an RN for 39 years. I started working in dialysis 12 years ago in a unit that provided care to both inpatient and outpatient clients. I moved to Tuscaloosa Alabama 8 years ago and have worked exclusively in the acute setting during that time. My passion is to take complex, and sometimes overwhelming, concepts and find a way to present it so that it is easier to understand. Also, to help nurses make the connection between that information, and how it impacts both their bedside care and patient outcomes. I also feel it is important to promote nephrology nursing as each of us brings different skills and experience to our practice and to ANNA. I've had the privilege of sharing my experience by serving ANNA in the capacity of Chapter Officer, Acute SPN Leader, SPN Chair, and now Board Director for 2019-2021. My time serving ANNA in these roles has been rewarding and I have made amazing friends who have greatly enriched my life, as well as my career.
When not hard at work with Nursing and ANNA, I like gardening, birdwatching ( in our big back yard...lots of beautiful species here in the South!), participating in Church activities (my faith is very important to me and a big part of who I am) and watching movies with my husband. We also love to travel to spend time with our grown children, who live in NE and CO. My first grandchild was born June 2019, so now we will add going to see her in NE!!!
And last but not least.... I LOVE chocolate!! ( You knew I had to get that in here somewhere- right?? LOL)
If ever there is something I can do to help anyone, please don't hesitate to contact me via ANNA Connected. Many ANNA leaders have invested their time and care into my growth as a nephrology nurse, it would be an honor to have the opportunity to give back and do the same for others :)
