What's Happening Right Now with ANNA

Hello ANNA Members -

ANNA just hosted the very successful Health Policy Workshop where 70 ANNA members were educated about health policy and then went to the Hill and educated their representatives about issues important to nephrology nurses and our patients.

In light of that I'd like to remind everyone to plan for Kidney Disease Awareness Week scheduled for August 10-14. This program is part of a continuing effort to educate legislators and their staff members about the needs of patients with end stage renal disease.  ANNA members can participate by inviting their Senators and Congressmen to visit their dialysis or transplant facility during that week of August 10-14.  Click here for instructions to help you get started.

I'd also like to let our membership know that ANNA's Board of Directors will be hosting their Board Meeting and bi-annual Strategic Planning Meeting the end of this month.  While the term Strategic Planning doesn't sound thrilling, it really is quite exciting!  ANNA's leaders make decisions that direct the course of the association, and have a positive impact on YOU, our valued members.  We are looking forward to creating the vision for ANNA - the future is bright!

And finally, I would like to remind all of you that the sessions recorded our 40th National Symposium held in San Deigo, CA are now available in ANNA's Online Library.  Click here to browse the sessions available.

I wanted to thank ANNA for providing this opportunity to learn about congress and to be able to visit the "Hill". I followed two wonderfull nurses- Charla Litton and Linda Betha from the Acadiana-252 chapter. I was ever amazed by their sprite and true passion for their cause. I was only a small fly on the wall as this was my first trip to the HPW but it will not be my last. The HPW was an exciting adventure and I will share my experiences and pictures with my co-workers and community.I will encourage other nurses to get involved. This was the kick-start I needed for an old burned out dialysis nurse...Again thank you and all the ANNA members I have meet. ANNA's future does shine bright and I am proud to be a small part.
