Water treatment in dialysis is essential and the staff needed continued education to ensure competency. Currently, our practice is a yearly education on water treament with contact hours done as an online course and a local staff in-service as a follow through and an annual competency assessment. The online course is really becoming too costly for the unit (the course is offered free to the staff and is mandatory) and we are lookling for better and cost-effective means in conducting continued staff education.
Does anybody know how frequent the education must be conducted and is it mandated by CMS?
