We are a five bed acute care dialysis unit & are co-located with a Step Down ICU. As per policy, all patients are monitored on a cardiac monitor while in the dialysis unit, regardless of whether or not they are on continuous telemetry, so that we can detect & treat any arrythmias without delay. All nurses are ACLS certified and initiate and administer anti-arrythmic medications or drips as necessary.
