non-nursing personal in the acute care setting

I was wondering who out there utilizes non-nursing personal in their acute dialysis units and what are they allowed to do? Does anyone have non-licensed personel setting up dialysis machine or doing water checks?

Although we used to use non-licensed personnel to strip down and set-up machines, and to start up the water treatment system and to monitor it as well, this is not allowed according to the 2008 changes in the conditions for coverage by CMS. So, we trained this individual as a hemodialysis technician, with a license for nursing assistant, and handled the change in CfC that way for this issue.
