Acute Dialysis

I have also had a welcome like yours many times in ICU.  From the moment the machine approaches the room, it's the dialysis nurse's fault if the patient crashes.  I originally worked one hospital, so I developed a relationship with the ICU staff over time, but that is not likely to happen if you travel and aren't often in the same site.  I would think the staff would be glad to have someone in the room, but often that is not the case.  Linda Bethea

I think re-educating ICU nurses' view of acute dialysis nurses is the only way to address this isolated but very important concerns among us. This is what one of our colleague have suggested with my experience. I think it would be nice if ANNA SIG Acute Committee would take the lead in liaising with the American Association of Critical Care Nurse to have a different view and push for appreciation of acute dialysis nurses throughout America. Its a nice concept but it will take a long time to establish such a rapport. But do we have to let this happen as it is?
