Cheryl George from Network 13 presented a Fistula First Camp here in Shreveport, Louisiana at the Willis Knighton Career Institute on May 20th. Our Acadiana Chapter officers were on hand to provide refreshments and act as go-fers when needed. The feedback from those in attendance was wonderful with many expressing a desire to attend another Fistula First Camp when one is made available and that they also plan to encourage many of their co-workers to attend also. As an education coordinator for Fresenius Medical Care, my associate, Kim Bazer, and I had our new hire class attend the program. When asked what they thought of it, it was refreshing to be told, "It was kind of repetitive since we learned everything she talked about already in class." It felt great to know that Kim and I are promoting evidence based practices and that the new hire class members were listening. HOORAH!!!
I am looking forward to the next visit from Cheryl and if what I've heard is correct I believe the next Fistula First Sessions will be have even a larger attendance than the last.
