Kidney Disease Awareness and Education and Conference at Loma Linda University Medical Center (LLUMC) on August 10, 2009, was a successfully event with total of 4 local representatives attendants.  They were:

LLUMC staffs and over 15 ANNA members participated during the event and educated the officials how dialysis work, vascular access, water treatment area, diet and fluid restriction.  The 4 officials met with the patients and their families and heard them told their story about their life with kidney failure.  One of the teenage patient told them that she wished to get a kidney transplant soon. The officials showed interest how the teenage peers feel about her condition and being on hemodialysis treatment.  Her story touched their hearts.

Then, the officials invited to attend the luncheon and the KDAE conference.  It was very exciting and inspiring when we walk into the conference room.  Total of 150 attendees attended the conference and await for the officials to walk in the room.

I though, wow! What a beautiful setting with the vendor booths, especially ANNA chapter 526 booth, which my chapter members  set it up in the conference room.  They did such an excellent job. Our chapter booth gave away ANNA Led Light key Chains to all the conference attendees and the officials.

Dr. Jerry Winslow Vice President of Mission and Culture addressed and introduced all the 4 officials with a warm welcome from the conference attendees.  Then we continue with the luncheon.

During luncheon Dr. Hadley Rogers, Dean School of Medicine and Dr. Sahney Shoba, Chief of Pediatric Nephrology addressed the official and conference attendee re: funding needed for CKD patients and issues that effect our patient's life, the providers, and insurance coverage, and medication reimbursement for dialysis and transplant patient.

After lunch, Jennifer Wickere Health Legislative assistant to Congressman Jerry Lewis from Washington, DC office presented the proclamation to Dr. Jerry Winslow on the podium.
