Extended criteria donor (ECD)

Final

Extended or Expanded Criteria Donors (ECDs) refer to older kidney donors (60 years of age or older) or donors who are aged 50 to 59 years old and have two of the following three conditions:  hypertension, terminal serum creatinine greater than 1.5 mg/dl, or death from cerebrovascular accident.  This term has been eliminated with the implementation of the United Network for Organ Sharing objective criteria to assess potential donors; please see Kidney Donor Profile Index.
