Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC)

Final

The MHC is a gene family occurring in many species and HLA (human leukocyte antigen) is the human version. More than 200 genes constitute the human MHC and they are located close together on chromosome 6.

These genes are divided into three basic categories: class I, II and III. See also HLA.
